Tribute & Message From The Family

Barbara Ellen Belote, 92, went to meet her Lord on the morning of January 20, 2018. She was born on June 3, 1925 in Desloge, MO, to Hubert and Nora Doud. Barbara was a long-time faithful member of Harvester Missionary Church where she served as Missions Board Chairman for many years. She enjoyed arranging flowers making sure the church was decorated appropriately for each season. Barbara stated that her love for her church reflects the fact that she has been "granted a profound experience of God's grace. I was filled with a joy unspeakable and full of glory. It is with me daily." She was an Embassy & Civic Theatre Volunteer, a member of the FW Genealogical Society, and the D.A.R. Barbara published a book on her family's genealogy. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and the Holy Lands. Surviving are her children; Robert (Linda) Johnson, Rev. Ron (Lyn) Johnson, Cheryl (Paul) Hines, Darlene Ford, Alan (Diana) Richard, Joyce (Ed) Kolberg, and Nyletta (Jerry) Hetrick; nephew, Royce Doud; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, although she thought they were all pretty great. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Merlin, Norman and Gloria. A celebration of life service will take place at 11am Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Harvester Missionary Church, 3331 Harvester Ave., Ft Wayne, IN 46803, with calling 1 hour prior. Visitation will take place from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Chapel, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Ft Wayne, IN 46815. I will always remember Barb's kindnesses to me when we worked at Brotherhood Mutual together. She was our resident bird expert at the time, as I recall. I talked to her a few times early in her retirement and have been trying to keep some of the advice she gave me in my heart as I journey down this road, too. My condolences to all who were touched by her life.

So sorry for all the family and friends. Barb was a wonderful person and I loved her dearly she is now in god's hands and I'm sure he is welcoming her with open arms.

Nyletta, I was sorry to read about your mother's passing. I have very fond memories of spending time at your house when we were young.

Barbara was my second mother growing up. After I moved my mother to an apartment downtown she picked her up for church. She will be missed by many. Condolences to the whole family. As I am in Texas for the next 3 months know that the family will be in my thoughts and prayers

Nyletta, so sorry to hear about your mom. I remember back in our Eckrich days you were very close to her. Prayers for you and your family.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope the promise at 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing there is a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
