Iris Mae Knapp, 92, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Signature Care Center in Fort Wayne. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Charley and Mary Kees. Iris graduated from Harlan HS in 1944 and was a lifetime resident of Harlan and Woodburn, IN. She was the secretary for the VP at General Electric from 1944-1948. Iris was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother and loved to care for others. She enjoyed playing board games, bridge and bingo. She was a lifetime member of Harlan Church of Christ, Surviving are her daughters, Trudy (Tony) Phipps of Spencerville, IN; Janis Grote of Union City, IN; sister, Nellie (Pete) Beerbower of Antwerp, OH; brothers, James (Janine) Kees of Orangeburg, SC; Richard (Shirley) Kees of Fort Wayne, IN. Iris was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Sheryl L Knapp, sons, Chuck and Barry Knapp, sisters Ruth Yerks and Anyln Kees. Service is 2:00 pm, Thursday February 1, 2018 at- D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling 2 hours prior to service. Burial in Scipio Cemetery, Harlan, Indiana.
