Jerome J. "Jerry" Minnich, 84, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne. Born in Bryant, IN, Jerry worked as a Printer/Technician with Fort Wayne Newspaper for many years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church from 1964 to 1992 and coached CYO basketball at the school from 1971 to 1979. Presently, Jerry was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Jerry was a retired baseball and basketball official. He proudly volunteered with AARP and IRS for many years doing tax returns for the low income and elderly. Surviving are his children Lisa (Jeff) Greene of Fort Wayne, IN, Annie (Michael) Minnich-Beck of Indianapolis, Tom (Colette) Minnich of Olathe, KS, Joe Minnich of Costa Mesa, CA, Ed (Liz) Minnich of Murrieta, CA, and Mike (Margo) Minnich of Omaha, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bea Hoevel of South Lyon, MI, Eugene (Ginnie) Minnich of Maplegrove, MN, Paul (Norma) Minnich of Portland, IN, Eileen (Don) Guntle of Portland, IN, and Harold (Kathy) Minnich of Portland, IN; companion, Patricia Schubert of Fort Wayne, IN; and son-in-law, Gokhan Guvenc of Oakland, CA, Jerry was preceded in death by wife, Rosemary Minnich; daughter, Claudine Anderson-Guvenc; brother, Norbert Minnich; sister, Lucille Wickliffe; father, Adam Minnich; and mother, Hilda Minnich. Mass of Christian Burial is at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Monday, December 18, 2017, at 10:30 am with calling an hour prior to Mass. Calling will be Sunday, December 17, 2017, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 4:00 pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
