Victor J. "Vic" Sockrider, 67, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Born in Auburn, Indiana, Vic was the son of the late George and Margaret Sockrider. Vic graduated from DeKalb High School and attended Ball State University prior to getting drafted in the U.S. Army. Vic was the General Manager of Georgetown Bowl for 38 years, and was currently employed by Qubica AMF. During his career, he was a great promoter of bowling and was in the FW Bowling Hall of Fame. Vic had a natural talent to be competitive in any challenging game he played. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fly fishing, billiards, and cheering on Notre Dame and the Cubs. Vic was "The Grill Master." He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. He will always be remembered by his infectious smile. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Susan Sockrider of Fort Wayne; children, Jeffrey (Caitlin) Longberry, Jennifer (Jeff) Roberts both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Niki, Camryn, and Harper Longberry, and Chase, Cole, and Reece Roberts. Service is 2:00 pm, Monday, October 23, 2017 at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior. Calling at the funeral home, Sunday, October 22, 2017, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Entombment with Military Honors in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
