Dorothy Woodruff Eidson, 95, passed peacefully at Woodview Healthcare Center, Fort Wayne, IN on February 21, 2018. She was born on June 5, 1922 in St. Charles, Kentucky daughter of the late Dinsmore (Dee) Woodruff and the late Ruby (Stringfield) Woodruff. Dorothy was a homemaker and also worked at Shane Uniforms Co., in Evansville, Indiana and Wayne Home Equipment in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is a member of North Park Community Church (Fort Wayne) and previously a Charter Member of both Shoaff Park Baptist Church (Fort Wayne) and Southgate Baptist Church (Springfield, Ohio), and a member of Blackhawk Baptist Church (Fort Wayne).
Dorothy volunteered extensively as a church member, handling all the accounting for Shoaff Park Baptist Church for many years, sometimes serving as the Nursery Supervisor, and at times a Sunday school teacher. She spent every Tuesday afternoon there helping to prepare the Visitation Supper for all who could attend. Years later she helped with the weekly church bulletins at North Park Community Church.
Dorothy was always known for being caring and helpful to others. She was always a loving wife and mother, and beloved daughter and niece to aunts and uncles and to cousins throughout her life. At Woodview she was known for her beautiful smile and comforting other residents around her and was loved by both residents and staff.
On May 9, 1942, Dorothy married Willard H. Eidson who preceded her in death on August 25, 2001. Also preceding Dorothy in death was a granddaughter, Jaime S. Moore. Dorothy is survived by her son, Willard S. Eidson (Deb) of Monroeville, IN and her daughter, Linda S. Moore (Gary) of Big Long Lake, IN as well as four grandchildren; Brett M. Moore (Kandra), Rachel C. Moore, Andrew H. Moore, and Erin K. (Eidson) Moffett; eight great grandchildren; Dylan M. Moore, Destiny S. Quackenbush (Michael), Madison A. Moore, Marissa D. Moore, Jayla A. Moore, Kaidence M. Wallen, Cayden M. Moore and Breanna L. Moore; three great-great grandchildren, Evan Moore, Tylee, and DaLuka Quackenbush.
The Funeral Service will be on Monday, February 26 at 11 a.m. at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with visitation one hour prior, Gene Sherrill officiating. Calling will be on Sunday, February 25 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, in Fort Wayne, IN, following the funeral. Preferred memorials in Dorothy's name are to North Park Community Church.
